My name is Dan Ferdinand and I've spent over 30 years serving the not-for-profit (NFP) community primarily in the role of an HR professional. I am now shifting my career to work for the NFP community at-large in a consulting capacity.  Thank you for visiting my website.

 

I have learned so much along the way, and I now want to be able to share my knowledge by providing it to organizations from the outside-in as a trusted advisor.  This type of relationship can enable candid, but safe, communications between my clients and me.  


My background includes working with organizations that had the following characteristics:


  • Numerous types of non-exempt and exempt employees
  • Unionized workforces
  • Strict regulation and accreditation requirements

  • Enormous risk exposures
  • Many other challenging issues

All of the above compelled me to persistently pursue management and leadership learning from classic and contemporary theories. However, as you know, true learning comes from applying theories and being open and mindful to the outcomes produced.  The expertise I possess was developed through this essential learning process throughout my career.  Each organization I worked for faced constant vexing challenges stemming from their respective funding streams and the inherent complexity of operating a business during periods of economic uncertainty.

  • In addition to being a senior HR professional, I spent over a decade overseeing other administrative/financial functions in the NFP community
       including IT, Finance, Office Services, Real Estate and other areas as well.  Consequently, I possess an excellent understanding of all the
       administrative/financial functions and the sometime sensitive inter-dependencies between them
  • My fees are a fraction of the cost charged by mid-to-large-size consulting firms (firms that may, or may not, have adequate experience working
       within a NFP environment)
